This year, the Priory Pantomime is that perennial favourite, Cinderella.  It comes complete with all the great traditions: a spectacular transformation scene; a thigh-slapping principal boy; a beautiful heroine; an all-singing, all-dancing chorus and not one, but two dames.  We don’t need to tell you the plot - you know the story – just as you know that adults and children alike will have a great time at the Priory Panto.  So book early, because lots of other people know that too!!

An author sits in an isolated house, trying to work out the plot of his latest thriller.  His career is on the slide and, to save it, he must come up with something special.  But what happens next is more incredible than anything he could have imagined.  A bolt of lightning and his characters are there in front of him!  But as he tries to work out the plot, he finds that these characters have minds of their own and the plot takes some unexpected twists.  Mayhem ensues as the author struggles to regain control of his own creations.

Lewis Carroll’s well-loved story was brought to life by the Priory Youth Theatre.  When Alice follows the White Rabbit, she enters a magical world, peopled by all the familiar characters: the Mad Hatter and the March Hare; the Cheshire Cat and the Cook; the Dormouse and the Duchess and many more.  Alice has numerous strange adventures before she finally returns home.

Richard Marne, film star, and his charming wife, Lilian, have invited three guests for a weekend at their country house.  Richard’s brother appears to be an aimiable drunk; his agent, an efficient busybody; the young actress, sweet and naïve.  But nothing is as it seems.  Their peaceful Sunday is shattered by Stella.  What is she doing there and who killed her? No-one seems eager to call the police and in their attempts to solve the mystery themselves, there are many startling revelations.  When the truth is finally revealed, there is a final twist which will shock both the characters and the audience.

Listen very carefully – I shall say this only once.  Based on the popular TV series, the play includes all the familiar characters – the sexy waitresses, Yvette & Mimi; Michelle of the Resistance and the two gormless British airmen; Crabtree, the policeman with a unique way of speaking French; and Edith – she of the awful voice! Then there are the Germans – sadistic Herr Flick & sultry Helga, gay Gruber and bumbling Colonel Von Strohm. At the centre of it all, is Rene, the harassed café owner.  Add the Fallen Madonna with the big boobies and an inflatable Hitler, and you have an evening of non-stop laughter.

150 years ago there was no place in the world for intelligent, educated women.  When the Bronte sisters published their books, they had to use male pseudonyms.  Award-winning playwright, Polly Teale, takes us into the two worlds of the Brontes: the drab, unvarying world of Victorian spinsters & the vibrant, passionate world of their imagination.  When their brother, Bramwell, returns, he brings violence & tension into the home.  The sisters take refuge in their writing & their fictional characters become part of this moving & tragic story.

Susan, Marjorie & Frazer are volunteers in a charity shop. Marjorie is bossy, tactless but good-hearted. Susan, recently divorced, is looking for love the second time around. Frazer is a close friend but would like to be closer. Into the shop comes David, a widower. Will love bloom for Susan?

There are many obstacles along the way, including a variety of eccentric customers, Susan’s aged & confused father, her ex-husband’s second wife & her colleagues’ misguided attempts to help. But maybe a very special pair of shoes will save the day?
