We are excited to announce open auditions for a production of Queers, directed by Mark Jefferies.
Queers is a set of seven poignant and personal, funny, tragic and riotous monologues for both male and female performers covering 100 years (1917 to 2016) of major events in each decade. Curated by Mark Gatiiss for the BBC, the monologues celebrate a century of evolving social attitudes and political milestones in British gay history, as seen through the eyes of seven individuals.
Roles:
A Man on the Platform by Mark Gatiss (1917) : Male actor playing age – 30’s
The Perfect Gentleman by Jackie Clune (1929) : Female actor playing age – 30/50’s
Missing Alice by Jon Bradfield (1957) : Female actor playing age – 40/50’s
I Miss the War by Matthew Baldwin (1967): Male actor playing age – 60’s
More Anger by Brian Fills (1987): Male actor playing age – late 20’s
A Grand Day Out by Michael Dennis (1994): Male actor playing age – Late teens
Something Borrowed by Garath Mclean (2016): Male actor playing age – 30/50’s
There will be a limited set as the play is set in the same public house over 100 years and there will only be a small number of rehearsals as the cast we will need to learn their own specific monologue.
This promises to be an exciting and challenging production for everyone involved, if you require any additional information on the monologues or want a script (we will be issuing copied versions of each monologue), please contact me on 07850059174 or email jefferiesmark1@gmail.com
