We are excited to announce open auditions for a production of Jane Eyre, directed by Ashley Hirons & Emma Marshall.
A gothic masterpiece of tempestuous passions and dark secrets by Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre follows the story of an orphan girl and her journey from a childhood of loneliness and cruelty to a life at Thornfield Hall and an unlikely relationship with the mysterious Mr Rochester. Falling in love, she gradually uncovers a hidden past to the gloomy, forbidding Thornfield Hall, a terrible secret that forces her to make a heart-wrenching choice.
Lead roles of Jane Eyre and Edward Rochester with three female and two male actors to play multiple characters. The third male roles are light on lines, suitable for someone looking to gain experience without the stress of too many words. Playing ages indicated in the information below.

Female 1 - Jane Eyre (20’s)
Female 2 - Bessie / Nurse / Leah / Bertha / Blanche / Mary (20’s)
Female 3 - Georgiana / Helen Burns / Adele / Rosamund (18+)
Female 4 - Mrs Reed / Miss miller / Mrs Fairfax / Diana (30+)
Male 1 - Mr Rochester (30’s)
Male 2 - John Reed / Mr Brocklehurst / Colonel Dent / Mason / St John (30’s)
Male 3 - Mr Lloyd / Attendant / John / Lord Ingram / Carter / Priest (any age)
Rehearsals
Exact days to be finalised, however please be aware a Sunday afternoon availability is preferred. Rehearsals to start December, with a break as required over Christmas.
Accents
All the action takes place in the North of England. Northumberland down to Peaks. The more educated characters will have less of an accent i.e. Georgiana, Blanche, Rochester, Lord Ingram, St John, Dent. Mason is English heritage from the Caribbean. Northen accents for: Jane, Bessie, Helen, Brocklehurst, Miss Miller, Mrs Fairfax, Mrs Reed Variation in accent will help differentiate characters, so think about how your voice can be altered for the multi-character roles.
